Player Profile – Bryson Gore
Homecoming of Sorts for Bryson Gore
As the 2013-2014 season moved along,
Bryson Gore, from the farming
community of Milo, Alberta felt the
call of home. Even though he had
lived away for many years to develop
his hockey skills, the forward felt
like he needed to take the next step
in pursuing his education.
“I wanted to come back to go to school
and get my business degree and help
out on the farm,” he said explaining
why he left the Moose Jaw Warriors of
the Western Hockey League. “The fact
that I can go to school and play one
more year of junior is the best of
both worlds.”
That doesn’t mean that his lifelong
dream of playing pro hockey is over.
“If it’s there, I definitely want to
play pro. It’s always been a dream,
but there is a life after that that I
want to be ready for.”
One of the newest Canucks, the ’95
born player is not new to many of his
teammates. Having played with the
Lomond Stars growing up, he has known
Jordan Wiest for almost 10 years. He
also played with Clay Spencer, Matt
Rypien and Brayden Benson with the
Buffaloes.
Not only does he know many of the
players, but he has their respect.
The coaching staff recognized his
leadership capabilities and rewarded
him with an ‘A’.
“It’s a big responsibility – a lot of
guys could have it on this team. I
want to share my knowledge and see how
we can all learn things from each
other.”
He adds that he wants to help the team
go far. “I want to improve myself but
I also want to help the other guys and
help the team win.”
While Gore isn’t quite back home, with
Milo being just over an hour or so
away, he does appreciate the
opportunity to be closer then when he
was in Moose Jaw or in Kelowna, BC
previous to that at the Pursuit of
Excellence program.
“Being closer to home, my friends and
family can watch more games and I get
to enjoy spending time with them.”
The opportunity to play close to home
and pursue an education has always
been one of the attractions for
players wanting to play for the
Canucks. Now, Bryson Gore adds his
name to the list before he heads back
to Milo to work on the farm in a few
years.
